Experienced, part-time gardener wanted to maintain and enhance the “edible yard” on the grounds at 509 Fairview Avenue in Blacksburg, VA cultivated by the previous owner.
Objectives, in order of priority:
– Environment-friendly, neighbor-friendly and science-based practices.
– Low maintenance for owner – fewer gardens, less weeding, easier mowing.
– Slow shift of some current fruits, vegetables and herbs to current owner’s edible preferences and desire to donate yield to others.
– Optimized yield.
– Creation of cascading floral areas.
– Selection of low-growing, evergreen border or hedge for back property line.
Work would be done at scheduled times, except for inclement weather, and best hours would be mutually discovered.
Number of hours and wages would be negotiated between owner and gardener.
A budget for materials would be negotiated between owner and gardener.
If mutually acceptable to owner and gardener, position would be yearly, approximately 8 months, April – November.
