What to bring:
- Yourself
- A dish to share that you think will nourish us for transformation
- Your own markers and crayons if you have a personal set you like to use
- Personal food or beverages if you would like
We’ll have coffee and tea, filtered water from the tap, and a potluck of “tranformative” foods. If you have special food needs, feel free to bring food servings for yourself so that you can feel comfortable.
What to do:
Email Anne Giles at anne@annegiles.com or call her at 540-808-6334 to reserve a space. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendance is limited to 14 participants.
Background:
If you’re interested, the idea for this gathering began during Anne’s reading about the hero’s journey/heroine’s journey in When the Past is Present (subject of a future A Woman’s Life Work book study if you would like to get an early start on reading). Central to the hero’s/heroine’s journey is the performance of difficult but necessary tasks necessary for transformation.
A selection of interesting but not-required reading related to our workshop:
- Female Hero’s Journey by Gemma Summers
- Female Hero’s Journey – graphics and text apparently by a high school student (has annoying ads)
- Hero’s journey (termed “monomyth” in this entry), Wikipedia
Special notes:
- Anne’s Place is an alcohol-free space.
- Anne has two indoor-outdoor cats that reside primarily upstairs and keep to themselves. Cleanliness is maintained to help those with cat allergies be as comfortable as possible.
- If you smoke, please use the side porch and the smokers’ receptacle.
- This session of A Woman’s Life Work is a private event, invitation-only, and for adults only.
